Saudi Arabia’s ride-hailing sector has witnessed rapid expansion, with record usage and revenue in 2024.

According to Acting President of the Transport General Authority (TGA), Rumaih Al Rumaih, Saudi drivers earned over $533 million (SR2 billion) through ride-hailing apps, highlighting the sector's economic impact and its role in enhancing flexible employment opportunities.

Speaking at an Uber Saudi Arabia event unveiling the company’s annual report, Al Rumaih revealed that ride-hailing trips in the Kingdom reached 80.5 million in 2024, marking a 26% increase from the previous year.

The number of registered drivers also rose 27% to 332,000, including 22,000 female Saudi drivers, a 48% jump compared to the previous year.

Customer satisfaction has improved, with shorter wait times, faster ride acceptance, and higher vehicle quality, reflecting the success of regulatory measures.

Al Rumaih reiterated the TGA’s commitment to advancing regulations that drive sector growth, support investment, and integrate emerging technologies such as electric and autonomous vehicles, ensuring a smarter and more efficient transport system in Saudi Arabia.
