The Dubai Civility Committee has introduced new smart benches and lighting poles with charging points at Dubai Water Canal, Gulf News reported. The facilities give residents and visitors a more convenient way to enjoy the popular waterfront. The canal draws walkers, joggers, cyclists and diners.

What are the new smart benches in Dubai?

The new smart benches in Dubai are solar-powered seats with wireless charging pads. Visitors can rest, recharge their devices and enjoy the waterfront in one spot. They have a sleek black finish and a new design that puts the needs of users first, according to the Committee.

How do the new lighting poles with charging points work?

Charging points are also built into the lighting poles. The Committee said this makes everyday services more convenient and accessible for visitors.

The poles have dual USB-A ports rated at 1A and 2.1A. Waterproof covers protect the ports.

The Committee said smart seating at the canal combines solar power, charging technology and practical design. It said this reflects public spaces built around people and a better quality of life.

It added that civility shows in the details that make city life more comfortable and convenient. Thoughtful touches, it said, help create better and more efficient public spaces for everyone.

Are smart benches new in Dubai?

No. Smart benches with charging points are not new to Dubai, but the lighting poles with USB ports are a new addition. Al Mamzar Beach Park, known as Dubai’s first official “Smart Park,” was the first public park to feature smart benches in its walking pathways in 2018.

Those benches offer fast wireless charging pads, USB ports and free public Wi-Fi. Attached solar frames power them. Several Dubai parks now have solar benches.

What are Smart Palm charging hubs in Dubai?

Smart Palm hubs are charging stations shaped like palm trees. Visitors can charge devices, use free Wi-Fi and get useful information at some parks and beaches.

The newer benches have QI wireless charging pads on the flat seating surface. The taller Smart Palm stations need a standard USB cable plugged into ports on the trunk.

Where else can you find smart benches in Dubai?

Smart benches are also installed in front of several Dubai police stations. Visitors can charge their phones and use high-speed internet there.

These benches run on solar power around the clock. They also collect information such as weather updates and display it for users.
