The Ruler of Ajman has ordered the International Charity Organization (ICO) to step up its humanitarian and relief operations in Syria as worsening conditions continue to impact civilians across the war-torn country.

During a meeting at the Royal Court, H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, was briefed by ICO Secretary-General Dr Khalid Abdulwahab Al Khaja on the organization’s ongoing relief efforts. The discussion covered a range of humanitarian initiatives, including food aid, education, health care, and support for refugees and displaced people in Syria and other affected countries.

“Sheikh Humaid expressed the UAE’s full solidarity with the Syrian people, affirming the nation's unwavering support during these challenging times and its readiness to provide all possible forms of assistance to help alleviate their suffering,” the official Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The directive underscores the UAE’s longstanding commitment to international humanitarian relief, a legacy the Ruler linked to the values of the nation’s founding father.

“Such supportive and compassionate stances toward brothers, sisters, and friends in times of crisis are not new to the leadership and people of the UAE,” Sheikh Humaid said, according to WAM. “Rather, they are a continuation of the humanitarian legacy established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.”

Dr Al Khaja praised the ruler’s instructions, noting they align with the ICO’s mission to prioritize those in greatest need. He emphasized that the UAE’s leadership continues to play a pivotal role in global development and emergency response.

“These directives reflect the wise leadership's deep commitment to humanitarian causes,” Dr. Al Khaja said. “Continuing to support those in need remains the primary driving force that strengthens the Organization’s mission and leadership—particularly in the areas of relief and development.”

The ICO has already launched several humanitarian projects in Syria in recent months, under Sheikh Humaid’s guidance. These include the distribution of food parcels, Eid clothing, and wheelchairs for people of determination.

WAM reported that ICO teams also assessed urgent infrastructure needs in war-damaged areas, including maintaining water wells, renovating schools, and implementing solar energy projects aimed at restoring essential services in isolated regions.

The Ajman ruler’s call for action comes as humanitarian agencies warn of deepening crises in Syria, where millions remain internally displaced and reliant on international aid.

WAM noted that the UAE remains among the countries most consistently active in global relief efforts, particularly in areas affected by conflict, natural disaster, or poverty.
