Sharjah Charity International, in partnership with Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, has launched a large-scale initiative to run local bakeries in Gaza, aiming to provide daily bread and meals to tens of thousands affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis -- particularly displaced families, children, and the elderly, WAM reported.

With a monthly budget of AED 750,000, the project is one of the most significant food relief operations currently active in the region.

Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem, Executive Director of Sharjah Charity International, said the effort underscores the UAE’s ongoing commitment to providing urgent humanitarian aid to vulnerable populations.

This initiative expands on the charity’s earlier work in Gaza, which included the drilling of 12 water wells and the operation of mobile kitchens to deliver hot meals.

According to bin Khadem, the bakery project alone will meet the daily bread needs of around 20,000 people, a critical response to widespread food shortages and the limited number of functioning bakeries.

He added that the initiative is a key part of a broader relief campaign for Gaza, designed and implemented in coordination with field partners to ensure aid reaches those most in need, while maintaining dignity and addressing core necessities.
