UAE delivers essential aid to Gaza and Lebanon in solidarity efforts
As part of its ongoing efforts, the UAE steps up to provide crucial aid to the affected populations in Gaza.
The United Arab Emirates has reaffirmed its commitment to providing essential aid to those affected by ongoing crises in both Gaza and Lebanon. Recent initiatives showcase the UAE’s continuous support to the regions, reflecting its dedication to humanitarian relief and steadfast alliance with the Palestinian and Lebanese people.
Humanitarian aid to Gaza: Over 40,000 tonnes delivered
The United Arab Emirates has successfully delivered twelve trucks laden with vital aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, facilitated through the Erez and Karam Abu Salem crossings. This initiative was conducted in collaboration with the American Near East Refugee Aid (Anera), according to WAM.
This shipment marks one of the first significant deliveries of humanitarian assistance since October, carrying 150 tonnes of essential supplies to support 30,000 individuals in need.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organisations, underscored the UAE's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people.
He stated, “The UAE is steadfastly committed to extending a helping hand to the Palestinians and implementing humanitarian relief initiatives whether via land, sea, or air routes. So far, the UAE has provided more than 40,000 tonnes of urgent aid, and will continue its extensive work and leading role alongside the United Nations, and international partners to ensure the immediate, safe, unhindered, and sustainable delivery of aid on a wide scale, through all possible means.
Supporting Lebanon: "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign
Parallel to its efforts in Gaza, the UAE has also been actively extending aid to Lebanon. As part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” national campaign, initiated under the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE recently dispatched its fifteenth aid aircraft to Lebanon. This latest shipment delivered 40 tonnes of essential food packages, with a focus on providing nutrition for children, bringing the total relief sent to Lebanon to 672 tonnes since early October.
Guided by the oversight of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court, these efforts underscore the UAE’s proactive response to Lebanon’s humanitarian needs.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi affirmed the wise leadership’s commitment to urgently respond to humanitarian needs and provide essential relief supplies to the people of Lebanon in the face of ongoing adversity and challenging circumstances.
Continued support through Air and Sea for stability in Lebanon and Syria
The UAE has further reinforced its commitment by maintaining an “air bridge” and sea-based aid routes to assist the Lebanese people. The UAE has also extended its support to Syrians returning from Lebanon through various humanitarian institutions, aiming to promote recovery, security, and regional stability. To date, UAE’s cumulative humanitarian aid for Lebanon and Syria has reached 2,772 tonnes, including 772 tonnes airlifted and 2,000 tonnes transported by sea to Beirut.
