Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday to discuss rising regional tensions and their impact on security and stability, WAM reported.
The leaders focused on recent military escalations and their implications for Gulf states and the broader Middle East.
During the call, both sides condemned ongoing Iranian attacks targeting regional countries, highlighting violations of sovereignty and international norms. They emphasized the urgent need to halt military escalation and prioritize diplomatic dialogue to maintain regional peace and security.
The discussion comes after Gulf states faced repercussions from Tehran following a U.S.-Israeli aerial campaign against Iran on February 28, which has resulted in more than 20 deaths across the region.
Recently, Iran issued an unusual apology to its neighbors, attempting to calm anger over strikes on civilian targets. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed regret for the impact on neighboring countries and urged them not to participate in U.S.-Israeli actions against Iran.
However, Pezeshkian also warned that Iran “will be forced to respond” if neighboring territories are used to launch attacks against the country, underlining the ongoing volatility and the delicate balance of regional security.
