
Myanmar honors UAE SAR team in appreciation of its humanitarian efforts following earthquake

Myanmar has honored the United Arab Emirates Search and Rescue (SAR) Team in recognition of its significant humanitarian and relief efforts in areas affected by the recent earthquake that caused massive loss of life and property.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the UAE team was recognized on Sunday during an official ceremony. Both officials praised the UAE’s swift response and effective humanitarian assistance, noting the team’s tangible impact in saving lives and easing the suffering of survivors.
Col. Muzaffar Mohammed Al Amri, commander of the UAE SAR Team, and Lt. Col. Hamad Mohammed Al Kaabi, deputy commander, were honored for their leadership and coordination during the mission. Myanmar officials commended the professionalism of the team and its strong cooperation with local authorities and international responders.
During the event, officials provided updates on the ongoing relief efforts and announced the formal conclusion of field operations following the completion of the urgent response phase.
Commemorative plaques were exchanged between the UAE team and counterparts from Myanmar, Vietnam, Singapore, and France. Delegations also held discussions on operational planning and shared expertise to strengthen future emergency preparedness.
Speaking at the ceremony, Al Amri expressed pride in receiving the recognition, calling it a testament to the international community’s confidence in the UAE’s emergency response capabilities.
Lt. Col. Al Kaabi emphasized that the honor reflects UAE’s humanitarian values, guided by the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The mission was carried out under the directives of Sheikh Mohamed, who ordered the immediate deployment of the UAE team to assist those affected by the earthquake, WAM reported.
