Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a series of high-level meetings in New York with foreign ministers attending the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

His engagements included talks with Gerardo Werthein, Argentina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship; Justin Tkachenko, Papua New Guinea’s Foreign Minister; Carlos Ramiro Martínez of Guatemala; Maka Botchorishvili of Georgia; Alexandra Hill Tinoco of El Salvador; and Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

According to WAM, the discussions centered on key items on the UNGA agenda and explored opportunities for collaboration within international organizations to advance the global sustainable development goals.

Sheikh Abdullah and his counterparts also reviewed ways to deepen bilateral ties across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, education, food security, health, renewable energy, culture, and technology.

He emphasized the UAE’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation to confront shared global challenges, promote peace and stability, and support sustainable growth worldwide.

The meetings further touched on pressing regional and international developments, with particular focus on the Middle East and its implications for global peace and security.

In addition, Sheikh Abdullah met with Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Program (WFP), to discuss enhanced cooperation between the UAE and WFP in addressing urgent humanitarian needs across vulnerable regions.
