Elevating Women in Sports (EWS) successfully held the second edition of its Pinktober Padel Tournament on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Padelverse in Korangi.

The event followed a conventional format and featured three competitive categories, Ladies A (5 teams), Ladies B (5 teams), and Mixed Doubles (16 teams).

In the spirited contests, Natalia Zaman and Rayyan Younus secured victory in the Mixed Doubles category, while Natalia Zaman and Saira Umar claimed the Ladies A title. The Ladies B category was won by Shaharbano and Maham, marking a successful conclusion to a day that celebrated both competition and compassion.

Organized in observance of Pinktober, the global month dedicated to breast cancer awareness, the tournament aimed to empower women in sports while generating funds for free breast cancer screenings and surgeries at PEBS Hospital, North Karachi.

EWS, a private non-profit organization founded by Ms. Samia Mufti, is dedicated to breaking financial and social barriers that limit women and girls from participating in sports. Recognizing how many young athletes in Pakistan are forced to abandon their dreams due to lack of facilities, coaching, and health support, EWS works to enable, empower, and encourage women to pursue sports confidently while prioritizing their overall wellbeing.

The inaugural Pinktober Padel Tournament took place on October 26, 2024, Karachi’s first event combining the vibrant padel community’s influence with a social cause. Following in those footsteps, this year’s edition continued to raise funds for PEBS Hospital, which provides completely free mammograms, ultrasounds, and breast cancer surgeries.

Breast cancer remains the leading cancer among women in Pakistan, which also records the highest incidence rate in Asia. With 1 in 9 women likely to develop the disease during their lifetime, early detection plays a crucial role, improving survival rates to as high as 90%. However, deep-rooted social stigmas often delay diagnosis and treatment. Through initiatives like the Pinktober Padel Tournament, EWS and PEBS Hospital continue to drive awareness, challenge taboos, and make early screening accessible for all women.
