Pakistani security forces killed 13 militants in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said, as the country continues its counterterrorism campaign against foreign-backed groups.

According to a statement from the military’s media wing, ten militants were killed in Bara, Khyber District, on March 30 following reports of their presence. Security forces engaged the hideout in a fierce firefight, resulting in the neutralization of all ten militants.

In a separate operation in Bannu District, three militants were killed during an exchange of fire with security personnel.

The military identified the militants as members of the group Fitna Al Khwarij and said sanitization operations are ongoing to remove any remaining threats in the areas.

The government has designated the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as Fitna Al Khwarij and instructed all institutions to use the term “khariji” when referring to perpetrators of terrorist attacks in Pakistan.

The Inter-Services Public Relations added that Pakistan’s security forces, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, will continue operations under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” initiative, aimed at eliminating foreign-sponsored terrorism across the country.
