Abu Dhabi has launched a ticketless, automated parking payment system in public multi-story facilities, the operator Q Mobility announced on June 3.

The "Free Flow Paid Parking" system runs under the supervision of the Integrated Transport Centre of the Department of Municipalities and Transport and was reported by Khaleej Times.

How does Abu Dhabi's new ticketless parking system work?

The system uses artificial intelligence and automatic license plate recognition to manage parking without any physical interaction.

A parking session begins automatically when a vehicle enters a facility. Fees are deducted directly from the driver's Darb wallet upon exit, removing the need for tickets, QR codes, SMS payments or payment machines.

Where is the Free Flow Paid Parking system available?

The system covers public multi-story parking facilities on Abu Dhabi Island, including Public Parking Building No. 1 in Sector East 01-3, which has 394 spaces, and Public Parking Building No. 5 in Sector 02-3, which has 265 spaces.

It also operates across commercial sectors ME9, ME10 and ME12 in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, adding a combined 1,446 parking spaces to the network.

How much does parking cost under the new system?

Parking is charged at Dh2 per hour, with a daily maximum of Dh15 for a 24-hour period. The service runs around the clock, every day of the year.

Q Mobility advises drivers to keep sufficient balances in their Darb wallets to avoid non-payment violations.

What else does the new parking system include?

The facilities include designated spaces for People of Determination as part of broader efforts to support inclusive and sustainable mobility. Q Mobility said the system is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion from illegal or random parking and help drivers locate available spaces during peak periods.

The company described the initiative as part of its wider push to expand digital mobility services and advance Abu Dhabi's smart transportation goals.
