Thieves looted lockers at a microfinance bank in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi after a security guard allegedly helped them enter the building, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place during the night between Saturday and Sunday in North Nazimabad, a residential area in central Karachi.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central, Amanullah, the security guard on duty opened the gates of the bank and let in 10 to 12 accomplices.

The robbers arrived in a white Toyota Corolla and a blue rickshaw, police said. They brought gas cutters and other equipment to break open the lockers inside the bank.
“The guard facilitated the robbery by allowing them inside. He has been arrested,” SSP Central said.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation. Geo-fencing and CCTV footage are being used to trace all those involved, authorities added.
“It’s too early to estimate the total losses. The damage is being assessed,” the SSP said.
