Bin Roye girl Armeena Khan to return to TV after four years
Known for her roles in Karb, and Daldal, she will appear in an upcoming HUM TV play alongside Syed Jibran
Canadian-Pakistani actress Armeena Rana Khan is all set to break her four-year hiatus from acting, with a new venture for HUM TV. A newcomer writer has penned the script of the untitled play, under Farhat Ishtiaq’s guidance, and will feature the hazel-eyed actress in a big project for the first time since 2020.
The Jaan Se Pyara Juni director Meer Sikandar will direct the project, whereas Syed Jibran, Azaan Sami Khan, and Kubra Khan round out the main cast. What’s interesting is that when Armeena Rana Khan made her film debut a decade back in Bin Roye, Zeba Bakhtiar played her mother and now she is making a comeback with her son, with whom she may not share screen time due to the story’s different timelines.
"I don’t share screen time with Azaan Sami Khan here, as the story is structured with different timelines.” The London-based actress explained when approached by Nukta. “However, we are both part of the same drama. Zeba Aapi is a legend, and I can’t wait to share the drama space with Azaan as well."
Armeena Rana Khan may be new to this phase of her career but she is content with the four-year break. "My father's passing set me on a religious trajectory, and I am still navigating my life through that lens. The script aligns perfectly with this journey, and when the drama airs, it will reveal how relatable it is to my life.”
She also added that since the play is filming in London, she was able to make time for it. “Traveling from Manchester to London is far more convenient, especially since my child is still young. It's the ideal time to take on a project with such a fantastic script and cast, especially with HUM TV."
So, what is this project about? All Armeena could say was that the script is structured as a multi-generational story and she is very excited to be a part of it.
“I am looking forward to working with the entire cast but don’t know whether I would share the screen with Azaan Sami Khan or Kubra Khan. However, if we had shared scenes, I’m sure we would have loved it. Kubra is phenomenal, and I believe we will work together in the future."
And then there is Armeena Khan’s longtime co-star Syed Jibran with whom she has shared the screen in Muhabbat Ab Nahi Hogi and Ishq Parast. " Jibran is wonderful to work with and a genuinely nice person. I always enjoy working with him; he’s the heart of the cast and crew and brings such energy to the set. We stay connected on my Instagram stories and have a lot of fun together. We have a great crew."
Her fans are eagerly awaiting her return to the TV screens; after all, she brings a vast international experience with her. Her short film Writhe, which she took to Cannes in 2013, made her the first Pakistani actress to walk the Red Carpet, and Stranger Within Me also received recognition at Cannes a decade ago.
