The Burj Khalifa will debut a new facade lighting system for UAE’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations on Dec. 1. It will also set the stage for the 15th anniversary of the tallest building in the world on Jan. 4, 2025.

The upgrade, which was mock-tested for six months, features dynamic RGBW technology. The system replaces static lights with colour-changing, addressable fixtures to create complex lighting effects without compromising on the Burj Khalifa’s sleek design.

“Burj Khalifa has always stood as a beacon of what is possible when vision meets innovation. This lighting overhaul is a testament to our continuous pursuit of excellence and a tribute to the UAE’s spirit of progress,” said Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Executive Director, Emaar Properties.

“As we unveil this stunning upgrade during Eid Al Etihad celebrations and approach the tower’s 15th anniversary, this transformation marks a new chapter in its legacy, reaffirming Dubai as a city of boundless ambition.”

The Burj Khalifa is famed for its evening light shows, held every 30 minutes during peak months. It also lights up for special occasions and, along with the surrounding fountain shows, is a major tourist attraction.
