Details of a 'sealed' First Information Report (FIR) reveal that former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been accused of orchestrating the killings of three paramilitary soldiers during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s 'final call' protests in Islamabad last month.

Last week, Islamabad Police confirmed filing a case against Khan on charges of murder, attempted murder, and terrorism, but the FIR remained sealed, leaving key details undisclosed.

The details of the FIR, which surfaced on Friday and is available with Nukta, allege that the deadly incident was planned inside Adiala Jail, where Khan has been held since August 2023. The charges also include conspiracy to attack security forces.

According to the FIR, the crash occurred at 3 a.m. on November 26 when a speeding SUV struck Pakistan Rangers personnel stationed on Srinagar Highway. The report claims, "The plan to target security forces was made on Imran Khan’s orders."

The document further states that PTI’s senior leadership facilitated the execution of the plan during prison meetings, with witnesses including inmates, laborers, and undercover jail police personnel.

The complaint, filed by a Sindh Rangers official, names Khan's wife, Bushra Bibi, and PTI leaders, including Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub Khan, Salman Akram Raja, Zulfi Bukhari, and Murad Saeed.

They are accused of inciting the public through video messages to rise against the military and government, allegedly triggering the incident.

A Land Cruiser driven by an unidentified individual is said to have crushed the on-duty Rangers. The FIR was registered at 2:40 a.m. on November 26, invoking multiple sections of Pakistan's Penal Code and anti-terrorism laws.

Initial investigations

Earlier investigations had classified the crash as a tragic accident unrelated to PTI’s protest activity. Intelligence reports noted that PTI’s convoy was nearly four miles away at the time of the incident.

The driver, identified as Abbasi, a resident of Islamabad’s F-10 sector and grandson of a former senior interior ministry official, was reportedly struggling with addiction and undergoing treatment, according to family sources.

Despite these findings, speculation over PTI’s involvement persisted. The sealed FIR reignited political controversy, with critics questioning the transparency of the case.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities probe the circumstances surrounding the crash and the allegations of a coordinated conspiracy.
