Dubai Police cracks down on modified vehicles in noise disturbance sweep
Authorities impound 23 vehicles and three motorbikes, issuing fines to curb illegal modifications and promote road safety.
Dubai Police recently seized 23 vehicles and three motorbikes within 24 hours for causing noise disturbances in the Al Khawaneej area. The General Department of Traffic, in collaboration with Al Khawaneej Police Station and the General Department of Operations, conducted the operation targeting drivers who had made illegal modifications to their vehicles.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, emphasized that the seizures are part of the ongoing traffic awareness campaign, "A Safe Road for Everyone." In addition to the vehicle impoundments, 24 traffic fines were issued against violators.
“These campaigns aim to enhance road safety, increase awareness among all road users, reduce accidents—especially severe ones—and promote a culture of traffic responsibility,” said Major General Al Mazrouei.
Strict penalties for modifications
Major General Al Mazrouei highlighted that vehicle modifications leading to increased speed or excessive noise fall under Article 2 of Decree No. 30 of 2023 concerning vehicle impoundment. The decree mandates administrative impoundment for such cases, with fines for releasing impounded vehicles reaching up to AED 10,000.
He further warned against equipping vehicles with technologies that boost engine speed, which not only create disturbances in residential areas but also pose risks to public safety. Reckless driving and behaviors endangering lives or causing damage to roads are also strictly prohibited.
Encouraging community action
Al Mazrouei urged residents to report irresponsible driving through the "Police Eye" and "We Are All Police" services on the Dubai Police smart app or by calling 901. He encouraged public participation in promoting safe driving practices and supporting the "A Safe Road for Everyone" campaign.
