Dubai has firmly established itself as one of the world's safest and most family-friendly cities based on data from the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment. Dubai’s population grew by 11.74%, adding 300,115 people and reaching a total of 2.855 million by 2023.
The report revealed that the emirate witnessed a remarkable 22.87% increase in the number of households in the past five years, reaching 711,590 by the end of 2023, up from 579,100 in 2019.
Households in Dubai increased steadily from 579,120 in 2019 to 598,870 in 2020, reaching 624,195 in 2021 and 669,750 in 2022. By 2023, the number had risen to a record 711,590.
The number of residential communities in Dubai also evolved from 2,275 in 2019 to 2,346 in 2020, then slightly decreased to 2,247 in 2021, and rose to 2,253 by 2023.
Ultimate city for living and business
Dubai ranks as the top city to move to with a composite score of 73.2, according to Deluxe Holiday Homes research. The city’s high average salary of $4.1K, excellent quality of life, strong safety record, and robust infrastructure contribute to its top ranking.
Additionally, the "Decoding Global Talent 2024" report, highlighted the UAE's growing prominence in the global talent market. The UAE now ranks 14th globally for attracting talent, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi ranking as the 3rd and 4th most preferred cities for professionals worldwide.
The city’s forward-thinking urban development strategy, exemplified by the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, is designed to ensure sustainable growth centered on human well-being, offering a myriad of opportunities for all who call Dubai home.
In 2021, Dubai was recognized as the most diverse city in the world in the "Best Cities in the World" report by Resonance Consultancy. The city has also emerged as a global cultural hub, enriched by the contributions of its expatriate community to its economy and society.
Most recently, Dubai and Abu Dhabi achieved the highest rankings in the Middle East and North Africa region on the 2024 Global Liveability Index, released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), which evaluated 173 cities worldwide on healthcare, education, culture, stability, and infrastructure.
