Empowering Pakistan’s filmmakers to confront climate change

Her Earth Advocates: Amplifying voices from Pakistan’s climate frontlines through powerful documentary storytelling

- YouTube

In a world increasingly shaped by climate crises, the voices of the next generation of filmmakers have never been more crucial. Her Earth Advocates, the fifth iteration of Patakha Pictures’ pioneering filmmaking grant and mentorship program, is helping these voices rise to the challenge.

Proudly supported by two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, this 7-month mentorship program has brought together ten passionate filmmakers from Pakistan to create powerful documentaries highlighting the urgent realities of climate change in their communities.

Under the guidance of Sundance Award-winning documentary filmmaker Jesse Ericka Epstein, these filmmakers have crafted intimate, eye-opening stories illuminating environmental destruction's impacts, from the deadly floods of Muzaffargarh to the fading traditions of fishermen in Rehri Goth.

Through the lens of diverse perspectives—from resilient transgender activists in Muzaffargarh to the nomadic shepherds of Avagrach Valley—these films explore loss, survival, and hope, shedding light on the untold stories of those most affected by climate change.

Join us in celebrating these trailblazers who are challenging the norms of filmmaking and advocating for a more sustainable, equitable future. Watch how these films are helping to spark a vital conversation about the future of our planet.

Don’t miss these transformative stories – because the Earth deserves to be heard.
