Pakistani security forces killed four militants in an intelligence-based operation in Panjgur district, Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Saturday, amid ongoing concerns over foreign-backed insurgency in the region.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation followed intelligence reports indicating the presence of militants linked to the Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij. Security forces engaged the militants’ hideout, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire that left four Indian-sponsored militants dead.
Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the slain militants, who were reportedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the province. ISPR added that sanitization operations are ongoing to neutralize any remaining threats in the area.
The military emphasized that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign will continue under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” initiative, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, aimed at eradicating foreign-supported terrorism across the country.
Pakistan has long accused India of backing separatist violence in Balochistan, a charge New Delhi denies. Islamabad has described some militant groups as “Fitna al-Hindustan,” while militants associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij.”
