Ahmed Ali Akbar will make his much-anticipated return to Hum TV with Nadaan

Despite the advent of social media and streaming services making global content easily accessible, the Pakistani drama industry is experiencing a renaissance. The quality of productions and scripts has drastically improved, as there are a plethora of new filmmakers on the block, while the old ones have honed in on their skills by sheer experience.

The trailer for upcoming Green Entertainment series Duniyapur is a fine example of the TV drama industry trying to break out of its existing paradigm and reinvent itself. One might argue it’s an exception in an industry where dramas still rely on the typical saas-bahu angle, here are four upcoming TV dramas that surely look promising and might compel you to tune in:

Sunn Mere Dil:

Since Geo Entertainment's Tere Bin, Wahaj Ali has dominated the airwaves with his charming looks and brilliant acting performances. His new project Sunn Mere Dil is all set to air soon, and his fans couldn't be happier on their hero’s return to the screen.

Maya Ali will play Wahaj's romantic interest in the play which has been penned by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, and directed by Haseeb Hasan. Based on the first look, Sunn Mere Dil seems to be a quintessential love story, with elements of betrayal and longing. The production looks stellar and will surely captivate long-time fans of Wahaj and Maya Ali.

Mooray Piya:

Green Entertainment’s upcoming production, Mooray Piya starring Saheefa Jabbar Khattak, Syed Jibran and Mansha Pasha also seems to be an interesting watch. The teaser shows us Khattak sitting by a boat on a picturesque beach, while recalling how she brought a cascade of trouble upon herself. The teaser doesn’t give much of the story away but also leaves fans intrigued as to where it could lead. Catch the drama when it airs on Green Entertainment starting October 4, 2024.

Ghair:

The Ushna Shah, Adeel Hussain and Muhammad Usama starrer Ghair is also set to release on ARY Digital. The teaser hints at a story that may deal with tropes such as extra-martial affairs and the frustration that follows the revelation.

The teaser also shows Saba Hamid in a different role from her largely popular drama Noor Jahan, where she played a cruel family matriarch who runs things her way. Here Hamid’s character can be seen lecturing her son on how to treat his wife, quite a far cry from the negative roles we are usually used to.

Nadaan:

Parizaad sensation Ahmed Ali Akbar is set to make his much-anticipated return to the screen in Hum TV’s latest project, Nadaan. Helmed by Mehreen Jabbar, and penned by Saji Gul, the drama also stars Ramsha Khan in a pivotal role.

Although no release date has surfaced yet, a first-look teaser has been released and is already generating buzz amongst drama enthusiasts and fans alike.
