Gaza's civil defence agency and local medical facilities reported that Israeli airstrikes on Thursday killed four people, including two children, across multiple locations in the Gaza Strip.

The fresh casualties occurred amidst a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that has failed to completely halt military violence across the enclave.

Where did the recent Israeli airstrikes occur in the Gaza Strip?

The deadly strikes struck several distinct zones across the northern, central, and southern regions of the Gaza Strip. In Gaza City, an airstrike landed near a displacement camp adjacent to Yarmouk Stadium, leaving one Palestinian dead and 10 others wounded.

In the central region, an attack hit an apartment near the municipality building in the Bureij refugee camp, resulting in the death of a child and several injuries reported at Al-Aqsa Hospital.

Further south in Khan Younis, an Israeli helicopter strike targeted a tent housing the Balawi family in the western part of the city. Emergency officials at Nasser Hospital confirmed receiving two fatalities from the strike, including an eight-year-old girl, alongside three additional injured civilians.

Tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians continue to reside in makeshift tent encampments after years of sustained bombardment destroyed much of the region's permanent housing infrastructure.

How are diplomatic talks progressing alongside the ongoing violence?

The military escalations coincided with high-level diplomatic discussions taking place in Cairo. A delegation from Hamas held talks with Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish mediators aimed at consolidating and preserving the fragile ceasefire agreement between the warring parties.

Although the Israeli military did not confirm individual strike locations, officials stated that forces targeted several Hamas terror infrastructure sites overnight. Since the fragile truce came into effect last October, health officials report that at least 1,214 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, while the Israeli military has reported six fatalities among its soldiers and civilian contractors.
