Google marks UAE National Day with festive doodle

Google Doodle celebrates UAE National Day

Google marked the UAE National Day with a special Doodle. The interactive Doodle, displayed on the search engine's homepage across the UAE on December 2, showcases a fluttering flag and fireworks.

"Today’s Doodle celebrates National Day in the United Arab Emirates. On this day in 1971, the six emirates of Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain united under one flag and established the UAE as an independent nation. The seventh emirate, Ras Al Khaimah, joined the federation shortly after in 1972," Google writes on its Doodle page.

The UAE National Day is celebrated annually on December 2. This year, the government announced a new name for the Union Day - Eid Al Etihad.

The UAE Government has declared December 2 and 3 as paid holidays for both private and public sector employees, with a range of activities and celebrations planned for the occasion.

Highly anticipated events include spectacular fireworks displays, especially in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, along with grand parades across each emirate.
