Sialkot Stallionz have announced the appointment of former Australia Test captain Tim Paine as their new head coach, calling it a major step in the franchise’s long-term vision ahead of the HBL Pakistan Super League.

The franchise confirmed the development on Wednesday, with team owner Kamil Khan describing Paine’s arrival as a landmark moment for the Stallionz as they look to build a sustainable and successful cricketing structure.

“Tim Paine represents leadership at the highest level of world cricket,” Khan said. “His journey as an international captain and his extensive coaching experience across elite programs make him the ideal person to lead our cricketing vision. We are not just building a team for one season — we are building a culture, and Tim is the right leader to drive that culture.”

A former captain of the Australian men’s Test side, Paine brings a wealth of experience as a strategist, mentor and high-performance leader. Since retiring from international cricket, he has been involved in several elite coaching and leadership roles, including stints in the Big Bash League, Australia A, the Prime Minister’s XI and various national development pathways. He is widely regarded for his ability to create high-performing team environments and nurture emerging talent.

Khan added that the appointment reflects the franchise’s focus on long-term excellence rather than short-term gains.

“Our focus is on discipline, clarity, and sustained excellence,” he said. “Tim’s values align perfectly with the Stallionz ethos — strong character, clear vision, and uncompromising standards.”

Paine’s appointment underlines Sialkot Stallionz’ commitment to professionalism, global expertise and championship ambition as the franchise prepares for the next phase of its journey in the Pakistan Super League.
