Here’s your guide to every Dubai public holiday and school break in 2025

As we approach the end of 2024, we’ve officially exhausted every public holiday except for one—the UAE National Day.

November 30, 2024 - December 3, 2024

From Saturday, November 30, to Tuesday, December 3, 2024, you'll enjoy four days off to celebrate National Day and Commemoration Day.

For students, winter break starts on December 16, 2024, and extends into the new year until January 6, 2025.

But there’s always next year to look forward to.

Here’s a breakdown of all the public holidays and school breaks to help you plan your vacations and downtime.

January 1, 2025 – New Year’s Day

The year kicks off with New Year’s Day on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. However, since it falls midweek, this one will likely be a standalone holiday without an attached long weekend, but it’s still a chance to ring in the new year with a day off.

March 24, 2025 – Spring break begins

Starting Monday, March 24, 2025, schools will close for spring break. Private schools reopen on Monday, April 7, 2025, while Ministry of Education schools will reopen on Monday, April 14, 2025.

March 31, 2025 - April 2, 2025 – Eid al-Fitr

Eid al-Fitr is expected from Monday, March 31, to Tuesday, April 2, 2025, marking the end of Ramadan. This holiday weekend extends from Saturday, March 29, giving you up to five days off to relax and celebrate.

May 30, 2025 - June 2, 2025 – Arafat day and Eid al-Adha

Arafat Day falls on Friday, May 30, 2025, followed by Eid Al-adha from Saturday, May 31, to Monday, June 2. This stretch offers a four-day break to enjoy.

June 27, 2025 - June 29, 2025 – Islamic New Year

Islamic New Year is expected to be observed on Friday, June 27, 2025. With the holiday falling just before the weekend, you’ll have a nice three-day break through Sunday, June 29. This holiday may be adjusted based on moon sightings, so keep an eye out for updates.

Late June/Early July 2025 – Summer break begins

Dubai schools will begin their summer break in late June or early July, depending on the institution. The break typically lasts eight weeks, giving students and their families ample time to enjoy the summer before school resumes in late August or early September.

September 1, 2025 – Prophet Muhammad’s birthday

Prophet Muhammad’s birthday falls on Monday, September 1, 2025. The holiday kicks off the weekend before, from Saturday, August 30, through Monday, giving you another three-day break to enjoy as summer winds down.

December 1, 2025 - December 3, 2025 – Commemoration Day and National Day

Commemoration Day on Monday, December 1, 2025, will be followed by National Day celebrations from Tuesday, December 2, to Wednesday, December 3. This long weekend starts on Saturday, November 29, and stretches into five glorious days of holiday cheer.
