Aleema Khan, sister of incarcerated former prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, has reportedly seen her second son allegedly detained within 24 hours.

Leaders of Pakistan’s main opposition party, PTI, claim that Sher Shah Khan was abducted a day after his brother, Shahrez Khan, faced a similar fate in Lahore.

PTI leader Naeem Haider Panjutha took to X, saying: “Aleema Khan’s second son, Sher Shah, has also been abducted. He was kidnapped after his car was stopped. Where is the Constitution? Where is the law? Where is justice?”

Another PTI figure, Zubair Khan Niazi, echoed the concerns, highlighting a pattern of alleged detentions: “For the past two years, Barrister Hassan Khan Niazi has been in custody, Shahrez Khan was detained yesterday, and now Sher Shah has been ‘abducted.’ We are facing a very low enemy.”

The alleged abduction of Sher Shah comes just a day after Shahrez Khan, Aleema’s other son and the nephew of Khan, was reportedly taken by unidentified men in plain clothes in Lahore, Punjab’s provincial capital.

Salman Akram Raja, a senior PTI leader, had claimed Shahrez was subjected to physical violence and that his family was harassed during the incident. Raja condemned the actions as illegal, raising alarms over potential state overreach.

In a statement yesterday, a spokesperson for DIG Operations clarified that the agency had no involvement, emphasizing that their mandate was crime prevention and that the Punjab Police did not engage in politically motivated actions.

Shahrez was remanded into police custody for eight days today by Lahore’s Anti-Terrorism Court in connection with the May 9 riots.

ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul approved the physical remand after police sought 30 days to interrogate Shahrez in the high-profile case. The accused was arrested in the Jinnah House attack case tied to violent protests last year.
