Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has claimed that Shahrez Khan, the son of Aleema Khan and nephew of incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan, was allegedly 'abducted' by unidentified men in plain clothes in Lahore, the capital of Punjab.
Salman Akram Raja, a leader of Pakistan’s main opposition party, PTI, said Shahrez Khan was allegedly subjected to physical violence and that his family faced harassment during the incident. Raja described the alleged actions as illegal and raised concerns about potential state overreach.
According to PTI Media Cell Punjab Incharge Ayesha Bhutta, Shahrez Khan was reportedly removed from a flight at Lahore Airport along with his wife. Bhutta added that plainclothes individuals, allegedly from a government agency, later entered Aleema Khan’s residence, allegedly assaulted domestic staff, and took Shahrez Khan from his bedroom in front of his two young children.
In a statement, PTI described the incident as “condemnable and cowardly,” stressing that Shahrez Khan has no known political affiliations and is primarily recognized as the son of Aleema Khan.
A spokesperson for DIG Operations said the agency had no involvement in the incident, noting that their work focuses on crime prevention and that the Punjab Police does not pursue political objectives.
