Mumbai-based comedian and social media influencer, Saumya Sahni, recently took to social media to criticize the high ticket prices for the much-anticipated India leg of Diljit Dosanjh's Dil-Luminati Tour. The Punjabi singer's concert, one of the most awaited events in the country, saw tickets selling out within minutes on Thursday, but not everyone was pleased with the cost.

Sahni, who has a growing online following, expressed her frustration in a video shared on Friday. She called out Dosanjh’s team for pricing tickets between ₹20,000 and ₹25,000 ($238 and $298), arguing that many of his Indian fans cannot afford such steep prices, especially given the current economic situation.

Sahni said in her video:

“Diljit Dosanjh has no right to charge his Indian fans so much,” “Many of these fans have no money or are unemployed.”

She continued, pointing out that Dosanjh's concerts are typically attended by middle-class families and young fans.

“It is very wild to me that an artist whose concerts can be enjoyed by kids and families is charging this much. He makes so much money overseas, he could have spared his Indian fans from these prices. International artists often charge $100-150, just enough to cover the setup. Even Lollapalooza tickets are cheaper, despite the massive lineup.”

Sahni punctuated her criticism with the bold statement, "₹15K for a concert? In this economy? In this country?"

Despite the backlash over ticket prices, Dosanjh's Dil-Luminati Tour has seen tremendous demand. Tickets went on presale in early September, with general sales opening on Thursday afternoon. Within minutes, they were sold out, leaving many fans scrambling for a chance to attend. The tour is set to kick off in Delhi on October 26th and travel to nine more cities.

The frenzy spilled over onto social media, where users on X reacted to the "insane craze" surrounding the tour.

As the debate continues over ticket prices, one thing is clear—Diljit Dosanjh’s popularity in India remains unshakable. But for many fans, the question lingers: At what cost?
