UAE commits to ongoing humanitarian aid for Gaza.

UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ibrahim Al-Hashimy has proposed the creation of a temporary international mission, at the request of the Palestinian government led by a new, competent, and credible prime minister.

This mission would address essential reforms and ensure an effective crisis response in Gaza, laying the groundwork for unifying the West Bank and Gaza under a legitimate Palestinian authority.

In a press release issued on Thursday, Al-Hashimy emphasized the need for a sustainable and just resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, advocating for a political pathway leading to a two-state solution.

'Israel should end occupation'

The minister called for immediate ceasefire in Gaza, saying, “Returning to the pre-October 7, 2023, conditions will not achieve lasting peace. Immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all prisoners and hostages are essential steps.”

In addition, she called on Israel to "fulfill its obligations as an occupying power under international law and human rights standards", highlighting that Gaza's reconstruction is impossible under continued blockade while the Palestinian Authority is not allowed to assume its responsibilities. She also urged a halt to settlement construction and violence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Al Hashimy emphasized the vital role of the United States in these efforts, particularly in Gaza's recovery and the peace process, stating that “America's unwavering commitment to a two-state solution and support for Palestinian reforms are crucial to the mission's success."

UAE humanitarian support to palestine

Al Hashimy highlighted the UAE's commitment to the Palestinian people, noting the country's ongoing provision of urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza. Over the past 10 months, the UAE has delivered 38,180 tons of aid through 8 ships, 1,243 trucks, and 334 airlifts, including 50 airdrops.

The minister reiterated that the UAE will continue, alongside the United Nations and international partners, to intensify efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering.
