Former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi has expressed confidence in Karachi Kings’ top order as they gear up to face arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars in a high-octane HBL PSL 10 clash at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Speaking to Lahore’s, the 40-year-old veteran praised Lahore’s pace attack but remained unfazed by the challenge ahead.

“Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf are world-class bowlers and highly respected professionals. But we’re not overly concerned — we have a strong top order featuring experienced overseas players who have regularly faced elite pace attacks. I’m confident they’re well prepared to meet the challenge,” he said.

This marks Nabi’s fourth season with the Karachi Kings, a franchise he holds close to his heart.

“I genuinely love representing the Karachi Kings. Every time I return, it feels like home. The last two seasons were memorable, and this year the franchise has a refreshed look and renewed energy. It’s been a great experience so far,” he said.

Nabi also spoke about his close working relationship with Karachi Kings captain David Warner, having shared several IPL seasons together.

“David and I have played together for five years in the Indian Premier League. We’ve had countless discussions about the game. He knows me well. He’s a fantastic leader — committed on the field and full of energy in the dressing room. He enjoys every moment, both during matches and off the field,” Nabi added.

Reflecting on his experiences in Pakistan, Nabi appreciated the warm reception, cricket-loving atmosphere, and the hospitality extended to international players.

A fan of malai tikka

“I’ve played in Pakistan many times — during tournaments like the Champions Trophy and Asia Cup. Even though we’re still under bio-secure protocols and can’t move around freely, I’ve enjoyed the cricket, the hospitality, and especially the food,” he said.

When asked about his favorite local dish, the Afghan all-rounder didn’t hesitate: “The food here is usually spicy, and I’m not a big fan of too much spice. But I absolutely love Chicken Malai Tikka — It’s my go-to dish!”

Nabi made his HBL PSL debut with Quetta Gladiators during the league’s inaugural season. Over the years, he has played 22 matches in the tournament, amassing 350 runs at an average of 25.00 with a striking rate of 142.85, including two half-centuries. He has also contributed with the ball, picking up 10 wickets with his off-spin.

With his wealth of experience, calm leadership, and all-round abilities, Nabi remains a key asset in Karachi Kings’ quest for their second HBL PSL title.
