The United Arab Emirates has created a new Ministry of Foreign Trade, the country’s prime minister announced on Friday.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also the ruler of Dubai, said in a post on X that Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi has been appointed minister of the newly established ministry.
"A new Ministry of Foreign Trade will be established in the UAE," Sheikh Mohammed announced.
According to Gulf News, the government also renamed the Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, which will continue to be headed by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.
The prime minister said the UAE will adopt the National Artificial Intelligence System as an advisory member of the Cabinet, the Ministerial Development Council, and all boards of directors of federal entities and government companies.
This change will take effect starting in January 2026.
"The goal is to support decision-making in these councils, conduct immediate analyses of their decisions, provide technical advice, and enhance the efficiency of government policies adopted by these councils across all sectors," Sheikh Mohammed said.
"The world is going through a comprehensive restructuring phase... scientifically, economically, and socially... and our goal is to prepare today for the coming decades... Our goal is to ensure continued prosperity and a decent life for future generations," he added.
