Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has significantly increased oil production from its Kunnar Oil Field in Hyderabad, Sindh, thanks to recent optimization efforts at two key wells, Kunnar-12 and Kunnar-6.

The Kunnar-12 well, where OGDCL holds a 100% working interest in the Kunnar Mining Lease Area, underwent a major upgrade.

The conventional Jet Pump was replaced with an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP), resulting in a production boost from 1,060 barrels per day (BPD) to 1,820 BPD—a 760 BPD increase.

Similarly, the previously shut-in Kunnar-6 well, hindered by high water production and low oil recovery, has been successfully revived. Through rigless interventions in the Lower Goru Upper Sand and re-completion using an ESP, the well is now producing at a rate of 400 BPD.

These enhancements have collectively added 1,160 BPD to the Kunnar Oil Field's output. OGDCL's technical expertise and innovative strategies highlight its commitment to maximizing production and securing the nation's energy future.
