Pakistan cricket team is set for a busy home season this autumn, with the Pakistan Cricket Board confirming a packed schedule involving Sri Lanka and England from October to November.
The two visiting sides will feature in bilateral and tri-series cricket across Rawalpindi and Lahore, with the schedule also including two ICC World Test Championship matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
What does Pakistan’s home schedule look like?
The action will begin on October 9, when Sri Lanka arrive for a three-match T20I series in Rawalpindi. The visitors are scheduled to play the first T20I on October 9, followed by matches on October 11 and 13.
After the T20I series, England will travel to Pakistan for an ODI tri-series involving all three teams. The tournament will run from October 18 to 31, with Rawalpindi hosting the opening three matches before the action shifts to Lahore.
How will the ODI tri-series unfold?
Pakistan will open the tri-series against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 18. Two days later, the hosts will face England at the same venue, before Sri Lanka take on England on October 22.
The tournament will then move to Lahore, where Pakistan will meet England on October 25. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka again on October 27, while Sri Lanka and England will contest the sixth match on October 29.
The top two teams will advance to the final at Gaddafi Stadium on October 31.
The tri-series will be Pakistan’s second in this format in as many years. The PCB had previously hosted New Zealand and South Africa in an ODI tri-series in February 2025 ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.
When will Sri Lanka return for the Tests?
Sri Lanka will remain involved in Pakistan’s home season after the conclusion of the ODI tri-series.
The visitors will play a three-day match in Islamabad from November 4 to 6 before beginning their two-Test series against Pakistan.
The first Test will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 9 to 13, while the second Test will take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from November 17 to 21.
The two Tests will carry additional significance as they form part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
Why are the Test matches important for Pakistan?
The Sri Lanka series will mark Pakistan’s second home Test assignment of the current World Test Championship cycle.
Pakistan previously hosted South Africa for a two-Test series in October last year. The upcoming fixtures against Sri Lanka will therefore provide another opportunity for the hosts to collect valuable WTC points on home soil.
