Pakistan notifies nisab for 2026 Zakat deduction

The Pakistan government has issued the official nisab for Zakat deduction, setting the threshold at PKR 503,529 for the current year, according to a notification.
The nisab has been calculated based on the market value of silver, which currently stands at PKR 9,591 per tola, compared with PKR 3,350 per tola last year.
Under the notification, Zakat will be deducted from bank accounts holding PKR 503,529 or more on the first day of Ramadan, unless account holders have submitted a declaration stating that they will pay Zakat themselves.
Last year, the Zakat deduction threshold was PKR 179,689.
Banks will remain closed for public dealing on the first day of Ramadan to facilitate Zakat deductions, in accordance with standard practice.
