Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated the country’s “unwavering support” for the Palestinian cause during a meeting with Mahmoud Sidqi Al-Habbash, Adviser to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Religious Affairs and Chief Justice of the Sharia Court, who is visiting Islamabad to attend a conference.
The Palestinian delegation included Sheikh Ahmad Hussein, Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Palestinian ambassador to Pakistan. Al-Habbash conveyed a letter from President Abbas and expressed deep appreciation for Pakistan’s consistent solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Prime Minister Sharif said Pakistan stood firmly with the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and justice, stressing that the people of Palestine had made immense sacrifices in the face of Israeli aggression.
“Pakistan will continue to raise its voice at every diplomatic forum for the rights of Palestinians, who are suffering under occupation, blockade, and a man-made humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” he said.
The Palestinian issue remains one of the world’s longest-running conflicts, centered on Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian territories and the denial of statehood and basic rights to millions of Palestinians. Ongoing escalations in Gaza have deepened concerns about food insecurity, displacement and civilian casualties.
Al-Habbash, speaking on behalf of President Abbas, thanked Pakistan for its “steadfast and consistent support,” calling the country a source of strength in difficult times. He described Pakistan and Palestine as bound by “deep-rooted and historic ties” and also conveyed condolences over the recent floods in Pakistan.
