Pakistan postpones pre-SCO seminar due to security concerns
SCO meeting scheduled for October 15, 16
Pakistan has postponed the Pre-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) seminar due to the current security situation.
Sources indicate that the federal government planned to hold the seminar in Islamabad on Tuesday, but it has been delayed due to security concerns.
The relevant department has been informed that the government will publish a Pre-SCO-CHG Special Edition of the magazine "Economic Affairs" to commemorate this historic event.
It is noteworthy that the Islamabad district administration has sealed all main roads leading to the red zone due to ongoing protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In the meantime, the government has begun preparations to renovate Islamabad for the high-profile SCO meeting scheduled for October 15 and 16.
The cabinet, under the Prime Minister, has also approved PKR 1 billion for the renovation and security of the SCO conference.
PTI workers have been protesting around D-Chowk in Islamabad. The capital police chief reported on Sunday that 878 PTI workers, including over 100 Afghan nationals, have been arrested.
