President Asif Ali Zardari will make an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic from July 6 to 9, leading a high-level delegation at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Monday.

Why is Zardari's Kyrgyzstan visit significant?

The trip marks the first Kyrgyzstan visit by a Pakistani president in 21 years, according to the ministry.

Officials described it as a major milestone in bilateral relations between the two countries. The visit builds on growing diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Bishkek over the past year.

What prompted this diplomatic exchange?

The visit follows Kyrgyz President Zhaparov's trip to Pakistan in December 2025.

The ministry said it reflects a pattern of increased high-level exchanges between the two governments. Both sides have used recent visits to deepen political and economic contact.

What is on the agenda for Zardari's Kyrgyzstan visit?

Zardari and Zhaparov are scheduled to hold one-on-one talks before leading broader delegation-level discussions. The two leaders are expected to review the full range of bilateral ties.

They will also exchange views on regional and international developments. Zardari is separately scheduled to meet the speaker of the Kyrgyz parliament during the trip.

Which areas of cooperation will Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan discuss?

The ministry said talks will focus on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, energy, mining, and agriculture. Textiles, the halal industry, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals are also on the agenda.

Discussions will additionally cover the digital economy, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

How do Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan describe their relationship?

Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic are both members of regional organizations spanning Central and South Asia. The ministry described their ties as warm and fraternal, rooted in shared history, faith, and cultural affinities.

Both countries remain committed to promoting peace, regional connectivity, and economic prosperity, the ministry said.
