Pakistani security forces killed 15 militants linked to Indian-backed groups during separate intelligence-led operations in the southwestern province of Balochistan, the military said on Saturday.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on March 5 in Harnai and Basima districts following reports of militant activity by the groups “Fitna al Khwarij” and “Fitna al Hindustan.”
In Harnai, troops targeted a militant hideout associated with Fitna al Khwarij, killing 12 militants after an exchange of fire, the ISPR said.
In Basima, security forces engaged members of "Fitna al Hindustan", killing three militants in a separate firefight. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were reportedly recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple attacks across the province.
Fitna al Khwarij is the term used by the state for terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Fitna al Hindustan refers to terrorist groups operating in Balochistan.
The ISPR said sanitization operations were ongoing to remove any remaining militants in the areas.
Pakistan’s military and law enforcement agencies will continue counter-terrorism operations under the framework of ,Azm-e-Istehkam', aimed at eliminating foreign-sponsored terrorism, the statement added.
