Pakistan receives USD 11 billion in foreign financing in 10 months
Pakistan received more than USD11 billion in foreign loans and financing during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, an 83% increase from a year earlier, according to a report released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The ministry said the government secured USD 11 billion in external loans between July 2025 and April 2026, compared with USD 6 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
In April alone, Pakistan received about USD 4.5 billion in external inflows, the report said.
The report said Pakistan also received USD 120 million in grants during the July-April period, while total foreign financial assistance stood at USD 570 million during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.
According to the ministry, non-project financing amounted to USD 8.31 billion, while project financing totaled about USD 2.76 billion during the period under review.
Saudi Arabia provided Pakistan with a USD 1 billion oil facility on deferred payment terms, while the Islamic Development Bank extended loans worth USD 480 million, the report said.
Pakistan received grants worth USD 21.8 million in April 2026 alone, according to the report.
The government estimated total external inflows for the current fiscal year at USD 19.39 billion.
The report also projected the rollover of USD 9 billion in safe deposits from Saudi Arabia and China during the fiscal year, including USD5 billion from Saudi Arabia and USD 4 billion from China.
So far, Saudi Arabia has rolled over USD 3 billion in deposits, the ministry said.
Pakistan also repaid USD 3 billion to the United Arab Emirates in April 2026, according to the report.
Among multilateral lenders, the Asian Development Bank disbursed USD 1.924 billion to Pakistan during July-April, while the World Bank Group provided about USD 1.664 billion in financing during the same period, the report added.
