Pakistan's IT sector has achieved a historic milestone, with exports reaching a record $4.5 billion in FY2025-26, marking a 30% increase compared to the previous fiscal year.
While many traditional exports have struggled, Pakistan's technology sector has emerged as one of the country's fastest-growing sources of foreign exchange. Rising global demand, expansion into markets such as Japan and Singapore, and Pakistan's young, skilled, and cost-competitive workforce have all contributed to this remarkable growth.
The government has now set an ambitious target of increasing IT exports to $25 billion over the next five years.
Can better digital infrastructure, faster internet, 5G rollout, and supportive government policies transform Pakistan into a global technology powerhouse?
On today's episode of On My Radar with Kamran Khan, Sajjad Syed, Chairman of the Pakistan IT Industry Association (P@SHA), explains what is driving Pakistan's IT boom, the challenges that remain, and whether the country can achieve its ambitious export target.
