Paris Saint-Germain delivered a commanding performance to maintain their perfect Champions League campaign, thrashing Villarreal 6-0 away from home.
Barcelona also returned to winning ways with a convincing victory over Aston Villa, while Manchester United produced a dramatic comeback against Roma and Bayern Munich secured three points against Atletico Madrid.
How did Paris Saint-Germain dismantle Villarreal?
Paris Saint-Germain strengthened their position in the Champions League with a spectacular 6-0 victory over Villarreal, producing an attacking display that left the Spanish hosts with little opportunity to recover.
The reigning European champions made an extraordinary start, scoring four times within the opening 17 minutes to take complete control of the encounter.
João Neves, Désiré Doué and Senny Mayulu all found the net during a devastating five-minute spell, putting PSG firmly in command before Fabián Ruiz added another to complete an incredible opening period.
Villarreal struggled to contain the visitors' attacking movement, with PSG exploiting spaces in the home defence to create repeated scoring opportunities.
The French side maintained their intensity after the interval, with Ruiz finding the net again after making an intelligent run before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper.
There was further reason to celebrate when teenager David Boly marked his Champions League debut by getting his name on the scoresheet, completing a memorable evening for Luis Enrique's side.
How did Manchester United overturn a two-goal deficit against Roma?
Manchester United produced one of the night's most dramatic results, recovering from two goals behind to defeat Roma 3-2 and end a nine-match winless streak.
The visitors appeared to be heading towards a comfortable victory after establishing a two-goal advantage before half-time.
Matías Soulé opened the scoring for Roma before Donyell Malen converted a penalty to leave United facing an uphill battle.
However, the hosts gradually found their rhythm after the break and began putting the Italian side under pressure.
Bruno Fernandes reduced the deficit by converting a penalty on the retake, giving United renewed belief. The hosts subsequently came close to drawing level when Bryan Mbeumo struck both posts during an attacking move.
United's persistence eventually paid off through Matheus Cunha, who completely changed the complexion of the contest with two goals in the closing stages.
The Brazilian forward struck twice within four minutes to complete a remarkable comeback and secure a much-needed victory for the English side.
However, Cunha's evening ended on a sour note as he received a second yellow card during stoppage time, resulting in his dismissal.
Despite finishing with 10 players, United held on to claim all three points and bring their disappointing run without a win to an end.
How did Bayern Munich overcome Atletico Madrid?
Bayern Munich returned to winning ways in the Champions League with a 2-0 triumph over Atletico Madrid, ending a run of two consecutive draws.
The German champions dominated significant periods of the contest and eventually broke through shortly after the interval.
Lennart Karl capitalised on a turnover inside Atletico's penalty area before producing a composed finish over the advancing Jan Oblak to give the visitors the lead.
Atletico attempted to respond, with Marcos Llorente and Giuliano Simeone both coming close to finding an equaliser.
However, Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer stood firm to deny the hosts and maintain his side's advantage.
Konrad Laimer subsequently doubled the lead with an impressive finish after collecting a superb pass from Harry Kane.
The goal effectively settled the contest, allowing Bayern to secure an important away victory and return to winning ways in the competition.
How did Barcelona respond against Aston Villa?
Barcelona bounced back from their previous defeat against Paris Saint-Germain by registering a convincing 3-0 victory over Aston Villa.
The Catalan giants made an immediate impact at Camp Nou, taking the lead after just seven minutes through teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.
The winger capitalised on an opposition passing error before cutting inside and producing a precise curling effort to beat the goalkeeper.
The goal also brought Yamal another significant milestone, making him the highest-scoring teenager in Champions League history.
Barcelona continued to control proceedings and eventually strengthened their advantage through captain Raphinha, who scored twice in the second half.
His first goal came after a deflected effort deceived the goalkeeper, while the Brazilian completed his brace by converting a brilliant delivery from João Cancelo.
The result moved Barcelona level with Aston Villa on nine points and brought the English club's remarkable four-match winning streak in the competition to an end.
Villa also suffered their first defeat of the campaign after previously maintaining a perfect record.
What happened in the other Champions League fixtures?
Inter continued their winning momentum with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Feyenoord in Rotterdam. Yann Bisseck opened the scoring with his first Champions League goal before Pio Esposito doubled the advantage. Piotr Zieliński completed the scoring after the break with a powerful long-range effort.
LASK also enjoyed an impressive evening, defeating Slovan Bratislava 4-0 to register consecutive victories. Kasper Jørgensen scored twice, while Robert Ljubičić and Samuel Adeniran added further goals to complete a dominant performance.
Sporting CP edged Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0, with Issa Doumbia scoring the decisive goal shortly before the hour mark. The Portuguese side secured their third victory in four league-phase matches despite late pressure from their opponents.
Galatasaray defeated Stuttgart 2-0 in Istanbul, with Aleksei Batrakov scoring twice within four minutes during the first half. The result ended Stuttgart's unbeaten start to the competition, while Galatasaray registered back-to-back victories.
The only goalless encounter of the night came between Bodø/Glimt and Lille, as both sides settled for a 0-0 draw in Norway. Despite creating opportunities after the interval, the hosts were unable to find a breakthrough, allowing Lille to collect their first point of the campaign.
