Saudi business delegation meets PM Shehbaz, expresses interest in key sectors

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met a high-level Saudi business delegation on Tuesday, led by Saudi-Pak Joint Business Council chairman Prince Mansour bin Mohammed Al Saud, at the Prime Minister's House. The delegation expressed interest in Pakistan investment opportunities across agriculture, ports, highways, energy and real estate, as both sides discussed deepening economic ties.

What did Prince Mansour discuss with PM Shehbaz Sharif?

The prime minister conveyed his respect for Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while highlighting the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He said Pakistan wanted to transform its economic relations with Saudi Arabia into a mutually beneficial strategic partnership, in line with the crown prince's vision. Shehbaz recalled Prince Mansour's earlier visits and said the current one could build on past discussions and pave the way for new memorandums of understanding.

Which sectors is Saudi Arabia interested in investing in Pakistan?

Prince Mansour expressed interest in investment opportunities in agriculture, ports, highways, airport outsourcing, real estate, energy, power distribution and information technology. Shehbaz welcomed this interest and said it was the most suitable time for enhanced cooperation, whether through government-to-government or business-to-business partnerships. Prince Mansour thanked the prime minister for the reception and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's continued interest in deepening business ties with Pakistan.

The Saudi delegation will also hold meetings with senior government representatives and key private-sector stakeholders during its visit. Federal ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain, Musadik Malik, Jam Kamal Khan and Muhammad Aurangzeb attended the meeting, along with Attaullah Tarar, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and Muhammad Hanif Abbasi. Prime Minister's Advisers Muhammad Ali and Haroon Akhtar Khan, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and other senior officials were also present.
