Sharjah Police have dismantled a criminal gang involved in smuggling drugs concealed within marble slabs.

Three “Asian individuals” were apprehended following an extensive investigation into a network orchestrated by overseas drug cartels, according to WAM.

The gang is said to have concealed over 226 kilograms of hashish, psychotropic substances, and other narcotics inside marble slabs with the intention to distribute them within the UAE.

The Anti-Narcotics Department at Sharjah Police received intelligence that the gang was employing unconventional smuggling methods to evade detection. However, their plan was foiled, and the members were apprehended red-handed.

The Anti-Narcotics Department launched field operations to identify the gang members, monitor their activities, and determine their connections to regional and international drug trafficking networks.

Sharjah Police made a significant breakthrough in their fight against narcotics in late 2023 with the dismantling of an international criminal gang. Codenamed "Unveiling," the operation led to the arrest of 32 suspects of Asian and Arab origin individuals who were involved in drug trafficking valued at approximately AED 14 million into the UAE through a neighboring country.
