Pakistan’s Premier Shehbaz Sharif hosted King Abdullah II of Jordan at the Prime Minister’s House on Saturday, where the leaders held extensive talks on the ongoing Gaza crisis, regional stability and deepening bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to Palestine, emphasizing opposition to any measures that could displace Palestinians from Gaza.
They also agreed to strengthen coordination among the eight Arab and Islamic countries working with the United States to support the Gaza ceasefire under the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Agreement.
Discussions extended to broader regional security, with Prime Minister Sharif updating King Abdullah II on developments in Pakistan’s neighborhood, particularly Afghanistan and India. The Jordanian monarch acknowledged Pakistan’s critical role in promoting regional stability and peace.
Bilateral ties and cooperation across multiple sectors were also highlighted, including economy, trade, investment, health, science and technology, education, and defense. Both sides signed and exchanged Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) covering media, culture and education, marking a step forward in institutional collaboration.
Prime Minister Sharif welcomed King Abdullah II as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Jordan, while the monarch praised Pakistan’s support for Jordan’s humanitarian and post-conflict stabilization efforts in Gaza. The meeting concluded with a dinner hosted by Sharif in honor of the visiting delegation.
Senior officials attending the talks included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Climate Change Senator Musadik Malik, and other high-ranking officials.
