Authorities in the United Arab Emirates said falling debris from intercepted missiles injured two foreign nationals in Abu Dhabi, as regional tensions escalate during Iran’s retaliatory strikes across the Gulf.

Officials said emergency teams responded to two separate incidents in which debris fell in different locations following successful interceptions by air defense systems. The first incident caused a minor injury to a Jordanian national, while the second resulted in moderate injuries to an Egyptian national.

Authorities urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and avoid spreading rumors or unverified reports.

The country’s Ministry of Defense said the death toll in the UAE from incidents linked to Iran’s retaliatory attacks has reached four, with 112 people sustaining moderate to minor injuries.

“The injured include nationals of the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, the Comoros and Türkiye,” the ministry said.

Earlier on Monday, authorities in the UAE reported a missile attack and said air defense systems were responding as Iran continued its retaliatory strikes across the Gulf.

“Air defense systems are currently responding to a missile threat,” the country’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority said in a post on X.

Countries in the Gulf have borne much of Tehran’s response after the United States and Israel launched a large-scale aerial campaign against Iran on February 28.

A total of 21 people have been killed across Gulf states since Iran began its attacks, including 10 civilians and seven US service members.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that the Islamic Republic “will be forced to respond” against neighboring countries if their territory is used to launch attacks against Iran.
