UAE declares 2025 as 'Year of Community' to foster unity
Series of events and programs will be launched throughout the year to uphold Emirati values, celebrate country’s cultural diversity, and strengthen community cohesion
President of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has declared 2025 as the 'Year of Community', under the slogan 'Hand in Hand'. The initiative aims to strengthen social bonds, preserve cultural heritage, and promote a shared sense of belonging among all who call the UAE home.
"Hand in hand we will work to strengthen social bonds, foster shared responsibility, and unlock potential for inclusive and sustainable growth," the president said in a statement issued on Monday. "To all those who call the UAE home, I encourage you to think ambitiously and act boldly in contributing towards improving your community and ensuring that our nation remains an inspiring model of progress and prosperity."

Residents will be encouraged to take part in volunteering, community service, and initiatives that promote collective responsibility and contribute to national progress, according to WAM.
The program also aims to unlock individual and organisational potential by prioritising skills development, talent cultivation, and innovation in areas such as entrepreneurship and emerging industries, including artificial intelligence.
The initiative will be overseen by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, alongside Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairperson of the Presidential Court for National Projects, WAM reporter.

Citizens and residents are invited to contribute ideas and proposals to support the initiative’s vision of building a united and thriving society.
Dubai ruler endorses 'Year of Community'
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum took to the X platform to endorse the declaration, saying that a strong community lays the groundwork for a brighter future for generations to come.
"The declaration of 2025 as the "Year of Community" highlights our priorities for the future: strengthening social bonds and fostering unity across society. The foundation of our nation’s strength lies in a united community, where individuals are connected, and care is extended to each other," he said.
