The United Arab Emirates has voiced deep concern regarding the ongoing developments in Lebanon and their potential repercussions on regional stability, reported WAM.

The UAE reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the unity, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Lebanon, emphasizing its steadfast support for the Lebanese people during these challenging times.

In response to the escalating situation, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed the delivery of a US$100 million urgent relief package to assist those affected in Lebanon. This significant aid aims to alleviate the hardships faced by the Lebanese population.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) highlighted the necessity for concerted international efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent further loss of life. The Ministry also stressed the importance of ensuring full protection for civilians in accordance with international law and treaties, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian principles.

The United Nations has also voiced grave concern regarding the sharp escalation of hostilities along the Blue Line and on both sides in Lebanon and northern Israel. This escalation endangers the lives of both Lebanese and Israeli populations and poses a threat to regional security and stability.

In light of the dire humanitarian situation, Joyce Msuya, the Acting UN Emergency Relief Coordinator, announced the allocation of US$10 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund for humanitarian efforts in Lebanon, in addition to US$10 million previously disbursed earlier this week from the Lebanon Humanitarian Fund.
