UAE, Jordan leaders discuss bilateral ties, regional issues

UAE and Jordan leaders stressed continued consultation amid regional challenges.

WAM

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Jordan’s King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to review longstanding relations and cooperation between the two countries, WAM reported.

Both sides affirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties in ways that advance mutual interests and serve their peoples.

The discussions also covered regional and international developments, particularly the situation in the Middle East and the latest events in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The leaders reiterated support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and stressed that a just, comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution is the only path to lasting regional stability.

They firmly rejected any Israeli attempts to annex the West Bank or displace Palestinians, warning that such actions - along with continued settlement expansion - undermine the two-state solution and threaten peace and security in the region. The leaders also voiced opposition to Israeli positions they said undermine the sovereignty of other regional states.

Both countries emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination in light of ongoing regional challenges.
