An Indian national sustained minor injuries on Monday in the Al Shawamekh area of Abu Dhabi after debris from a ballistic missile interception fell to the ground, authorities said. The missile had been successfully intercepted by the UAE’s air defense systems.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office urged the public to rely only on official sources for updates and avoid spreading unverified information, following the incident.

Earlier on Monday, the UAE Ministry of Defense confirmed that the country’s air defense systems are actively responding to incoming missile and drone attacks originating from Iran. The ministry said that the loud noises reported across several areas were caused by the interception of ballistic missiles and drone engagements by fighter jets.

A day earlier, the ministry reported that its air defenses had intercepted four ballistic missiles and 25 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran. Since the start of the ongoing Iran-UAE conflict, UAE forces have successfully intercepted 345 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,773 UAVs.

The attacks have claimed the lives of two UAE armed forces personnel and six foreign nationals from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Palestine. Additionally, 160 people have been injured, with cases ranging from minor to severe. The injured include citizens and residents from the UAE, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Iran, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Turkey, Iraq, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia.

The UAE Ministry of Defense reaffirmed that it remains fully prepared to confront any threats to national security. Officials emphasized that all measures are being taken to protect the country’s sovereignty, stability, and strategic interests.

Gulf states have borne the brunt of Iran’s response following a U.S.-Israeli aerial campaign against Iran on February 28.
