UAE president and Jordanian king discuss regional stability, economic cooperation
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and King Abdullah II meet in Abu Dhabi to address Middle East conflicts, economic ties, and path to peace
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Abu Dhabi to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, with a focus on strengthening cooperation and addressing escalating tensions in the Middle East, WAM reported.
During their meeting, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the economic partnership between the UAE and Jordan, particularly in developmental sectors. Discussions also covered regional and international issues, including the war in Gaza and Lebanon.
Both leaders underscored the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the protection of civilians under international humanitarian law.
They called for increased humanitarian support for affected communities and reiterated their support for Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while expressing solidarity with the Lebanese people.
Sheikh Mohamed and King Abdullah stressed the importance of preventing further escalation of conflict in the Middle East, warning of its threat to regional security and stability. They advocated for a comprehensive peace process based on a two-state solution to ensure lasting stability in the region.
The meeting highlighted the UAE and Jordan’s commitment to ongoing consultations on shared concerns, particularly given the current challenges facing the Middle East.
King Abdullah arrived in Abu Dhabi earlier on Tuesday and was received at Al Bateen Airport by Sheikh Mohamed, accompanied by senior UAE officials, including Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other high-ranking dignitaries.
The Jordanian delegation accompanying King Abdullah included Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and several senior officials.
