UAE president connects with former US presidents during official visit
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan looks back on key milestones in relations with George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and the grandson of Jimmy Carter
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with former U.S. President George W. Bush during his official visit to the United States. He also spoke with former President Bill Clinton and the family of Jimmy Carter, further affirming and bolstering the bilateral relationship between the UAE and the U.S.
During his meeting with Bush, Sheikh Mohamed reminisced about Bush’s historic visit to the UAE in 2008, which had significantly strengthened relations rooted in shared values and a commitment to promoting progress and stability. He acknowledged the contributions of Bush’s late father, George H.W. Bush, in helping to solidify the relationship between the two countries.
Sheikh Mohamed wished Bush continued health and well-being, while Bush expressed pleasure in reconnecting with the UAE President and reflecting on key milestones in the bilateral relationship.
The meeting was attended by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, and Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States.
In a phone call with Clinton, Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the former president’s pivotal role in strengthening bilateral ties and wished him and his family well. Clinton expressed gratitude for the call and extended his best wishes for Sheikh Mohamed’s health.
Sheikh Mohamed also spoke with Jason Carter, the grandson of former President Jimmy Carter. He inquired about the former president’s well-being and praised Carter’s global humanitarian efforts, particularly his collaboration with the UAE in addressing neglected tropical diseases through the Carter Center. Sheikh Mohamed wished Jason Carter continued success in upholding his grandfather’s humanitarian legacy as Chair of the Carter Center and reaffirmed his commitment to future collaboration with the organization.
